Making Progress

We are not using a wedding planner.  However, through the process of planning the party, talking to caterers and the like, current trends in wedding receptions have been brought to my attention.

Tables and folding chairs are great, but we have been strongly encouraged to create intimate, inviting seating areas in the tent and in the yard for the reception. Sofas and chairs, tables etc set up together to create a warm and inviting space will encourage party guests to make themselves feel at home.

Of course, you can rent the furniture. But it wouldn't be a tag sale wedding if we rented the furniture. We got the first piece this week.  I am sure we will work in some pieces I already have and I look forward to filling my garage with wedding furniture over the next few months

The Merits of a 2:00 wedding

Up until yesterday, we were planning a late afternoon wedding ceremony with a dinner reception.  We are now re-thinking that decision.

So. What are the merits of the 2:00 wedding?  It appears that a 2:00 PM garden wedding ceremony can be just as formal or informal as one would like.  There is a little more sun in the venue for the ceremony. Though guests would not be looking into the sun, some may be sitting in the sun for the duration of the ceremony. The reception would likely consist of salads and cold-cuts rather than the meal that would be required for a dinner reception.

Our garage-sale shopping list would also change.  Rather than setting up tables for all people to eat at the same time, it is more likely that we would have smaller tables set up for people to use when they feel like eating.

Any ideas on the subject? Opinions one way or another? The decision has not been made, but needs to be made soon as caterers need to be booked!  So does the officiant for that matter!

Flowers?

I found a website Fiftyflowers.com  I like the prices and the selection.  They seem to be set up for DIY. They recommend delivery three days before the event.  I am considering Ranunculus and Garden Roses.  I grabbed a few photos from their website to give you an idea.

Double Duty- For the aisle and for center pieces

Here is the inspiration for the containers for the floral arrangements. this will hang on the chairs down the aisle and then we will move them at ceremony's end to the center pieces at the reception.

Current thoughts for flowers: Ranunculus and Garden Roses.

Wendy procures the dishes

I put the word out that I was looking for blue and white transferware for the place settings. Well, look no more- Wendy's sister Mary has setting for 100 and we get to borrow it!  Yippee.  I am so excited.  We know we have dinner and dessert plates for 100 (plenty.)  We do not have a count on coffee cups and saucers.  I will update when I have numbers.
